Blog donations, better Google visibility, and a cleaner InTo history

DenisManig

I've decided to keep pushing Swoin forward, and there's already a batch of new stuff for you as a beta user to try out. My personal goal is to get you regular updates like this one - when something ships, you'll hear about it here.

So here's what landed:

Donations now work on blog posts, too

Until now, InTo donations only worked on roadmap items. Now your supporters can also donate directly to a blog post on your product site.

Why that matters: not everything you build or write about fits into a roadmap vote. Sometimes you just want to share a decision, a story, a "here's what happened this week" — and if that resonates, your supporters now have a way to say so with more than a like. It's the same signal roadmap voting gives you, just attached to the things you write instead of the things you build. If a post gets real donations, that tells you something a comment section never will.

And if a supporter wants to donate but doesn't have enough InTo left, they get pointed straight to upgrading their subscription on the spot.

Your blog posts are now much easier to find on Google

This one's for both sides: you as the person running a product blog, and the people trying to find it. We did an audit and found a handful of real gaps — posts weren't showing up in Google at all, blog posts had no proper preview image when shared on LinkedIn or X, and roadmap items (exactly the kind of content people search for, like "is someone building X?") were completely invisible to search engines.

All of that's fixed now. Practically: if someone searches for a problem your blog post talks about, or shares your post on social media, it now actually shows up properly — title, preview image, the works. This won't change anything overnight, but it removes a bunch of dead weight that was quietly working against you every time you published something.

We made our EU-based setup a bit more visible

This was never a secret, it just wasn't spelled out anywhere clearly. Now it is — it's mentioned on the landing page, and there's a proper About and FAQ page explaining what Swoin does and how it works. Not a huge deal for most of you, just worth knowing it's there if you or your supporters ever want to point at something concrete.

Your InTo history is finally complete

If you're someone who spends InTo — on roadmap items, and now on blog donations too — you probably noticed your history was missing pieces. Nothing was ever actually wrong with your balance, it just wasn't showing everything: donations weren't always logged, and the InTo you get every month from your subscription wasn't showing up as an entry even though it was already in your account.

That's fixed. Your history now shows every single movement, in order, with what it was for and when it happened — including the monthly top-ups from your subscription. If you've ever wanted to actually trace where your InTo went, you can now.

And a couple of smaller things

Blog posts can now be tagged, and readers can filter by tag — handy once a product site has more than a handful of posts. And there's now a simple unread indicator on blog posts and roadmap items, so it's obvious at a glance what you haven't seen yet.
